Mrs Tiggy -Winkle is an expert at Laundry and especially with using ingredients which you might have hanging around in your store cupboards. Here she is to offer advice!
Good Morning !
Here are my top tips on how to keep your laundry sparkling white!
Firstly Prevention !
- Remove make-up before getting into bed
- Always wash whites separately
- Wash bedding fortnightly.
However if you have some dingy or stained sheets or pillow cases, here are some tips which might be helpful.
Gather together the following
- A lemon
- White Vinegar
- Bicarb of soda (Baking soda) not Baking powder
- Washing up liquid.
Rub neat washing up liquid into the stain and scrub lightly with a toothbrush which you keep for the purpose. Rinse and repeat if you need to. If this doesn't work, make a paste with bicarb of soda and white vinegar. Apply this to stain and leave it for an hour or so. As a last resort soak overnight in a solution of baking soda, white vinegar, and the juice of a lemon.
To revive the sparkle in your whites
- Add half a cup of Bicarb of Soda and half a cup of white vinegar to the wash
- Wash at 60 degrees
- Dry outside in the sun
As a last resort
Only if 100% Cotton soak in a solution of bleach and water over night.
Bleach is powerful and can destroy fibres but if used occasionally is ok and then add white vinegar to the wash to destroy any unpleasant bleachy odours.
If none of these work your only option is to visit that nice place called English Rose Linens where they sell good quality pillow cases, duvet covers and sheets at very reasonable prices!
Good luck with your spring sparkle!
